The All-New Jeep Grand Cherokee L vs. The Jeep Grand Cherokee

August 19th, 2021 by

2021 marks the introduction of a new Jeep icon: the best-selling Jeep Grand Cherokee family grows larger with the all-new 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. What designates the ‘L’? The new Grand Cherokee L features third-row seating, which has never been included in a Grand Cherokee model before. With a muscular exterior and a beautifully designed interior, the new Grand Cherokee L is truly a work of art. Follow along as Salt Lake Valley Chryster Dodge Jeep Ram shows you the main distinguishing features between the new Jeep Grand Cherokee L and the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2-row.

Size

The most obvious distinction between the Grand Cherokee L and the regular Grand Cherokee is size. The Grand Cherokee L features an additional 15.1 inches of length compared to the Grand Cherokee, allowing for third row seating in the L model. Seven passengers sit comfortably inside the Grand Cherokee L, whereas the traditional Grand Cherokee model seats up to five. Salt Lake Valley drivers will have the option of choosing either second-row Captains Chairs with a center console, or a second-row bench seat. With all seats folded, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L features an extra 16 cubic feet of cargo space. The Grand Cherokee L is perfect for Salt Lake Valley carpools or weekend Utah getaways.

Safety and Technology

Another big distinction between the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L and the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee are the technology and safety features found standard on the new Grand Cherokee L. The new Grand Cherokee L includes Active Lane Management, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path Detection, and more. While the 2021 Grand Cherokee includes standard Blind Spot Monitoring, the rest of the safety features are available features.

Step inside the new Grand Cherokee L and you will find a completely overhauled interior space compared to the regular Grand Cherokee. The Grand Cherokee L features a standard 8.5 inch touchscreen, with an available 10.1-inch upgrade. The standard Jeep Grand Cherokee comes with a 7-inch touchscreen, with an available 8.4-inch upgrade. Both the Grand Cherokee and the Grand Cherokee L include Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Taking inspiration from the upcoming 2022 Grand Wagoneer, the Grand Cherokee L’s interior feels like a refined and modernized evolution of the 2-row Grand Cherokee interior.

Trim Levels

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is available in six distinct trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve. Depending on the trim level chosen, options may vary. The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2-row model is available in a whopping 12 trim levels: Laredo E, Freedom, Laredo X, Limited, Limited X, 80th Anniversary Edition, Trailhawk, Overland, High Altitude, Summit, SRT, and Trackhawk. Both Grand Cherokee L and Grand Cherokee trim levels are all available in either 4×2 or 4×4 configurations. While the Grand Cherokee L may have newer features, the standard Jeep Grand Cherokee features more customization for Salt Lake Valley drivers.
