Why Buy an Electric Car?

October 4th, 2022 by

We all know that electric vehicles (EVs) produce less harm in the environment compared to gas-powered cars. But did you know they can also save you money?

EVs are more efficient than gas cars, so they cost less to operate and maintain. Plus, with recent advances in technology, These vehicles are becoming more affordable than ever. Here’s a closer look at why electric vehicles are a smart choice for your wallet and our world.

Overnight EV Charging Saves Time & Money

The folks at Consumer Report conducted a study comparing the ownership cost of electric vehicles and traditional gas vehicles.

CR found that EV’s with a 250-mile range were in a “sweet spot” best suited for saving money. These longer-range EVs make it possible to do more of your charging at home, which would presumably cost less than at a public charging station.

An EV owner can expect to save an average of $800 to $1,000 a year on fueling costs over an equivalent gasoline-powered car.

Electric Vehicles Require Less Maintenance

The average American drives over 200 miles per week, which means they are constantly putting money into their car. With the cost being so high these days, it’s important to find ways where you can save as much time and gas without sacrificing performance or quality of life by going electric.

New research from Consumer Reports shows that 100% electric vehicles—have fewer moving parts than gas-powered cars—need less maintenance and repair costs over an owner’s lifetime because there isn’t any oil changing required or engine tuning needed during repairs; this makes them significantly cheaper than standard gasoline powered cars with all kinds

The average dollar savings over the lifetime of the vehicle is about $4,600.

Choosing An EV Comes With Somes Freebies

There are a few things that you should know before purchasing an electric vehicle. Every major automaker offers up to $7500 in federal tax credits, which can be used toward your purchase or lease of an eligible vehicle (plug-in hybrids don’t receive as much).

Also, you can save money on your EV by checking with the state where you live. In some cases, people who purchase an EV may be eligible for additional tax credits and rebates as well. You should always ask about the Federal Tax Credit when purchasing or leasing.
